Hormone Replacement Therapy: Benefits

One of the recommended therapies for menopausal symptoms is hormone replacement therapy Toronto (HT). Menopausal women often experience hot flashes, sleep difficulties, and dry vaginal discharge as a result of estrogen depletion. Osteoporosis can also be prevented by the use of HT.

The three stages of natural menopause are as follows:

One year following the last menstrual cycle, the perimenopause or menopause transition begins, during which time symptoms such as unpredictable periods begin to appear.
One year following the last menstrual cycle, a woman is considered to be in menopause.
Every year following menopause is referred to as postmenopause.

HT can be divided into two categories:

Only estrogen is used in the term “ET.” The hormone estrogen is the most effective in relieving menopausal symptoms. Women who have had a hysterectomy and no longer have a uterus are administered ET.

EPT stands for a combination of estrogen and progestogens. A progestogen is a hormone supplement taken to estrogen therapy to guard against the development of uterine cancer (endometrial cancer).

HT can be taken in one of two ways:

The circulatory system transports systemic products to every portion of the body. They can be used to treat hot flashes and night sweats, vaginal symptoms, and osteoporosis, and are available in oral tablet, patch, gel, emulsion, spray, or injectable form. Unlike systemic medications, local (nonsystemic) products only influence a specific area of the body.
Starting with a low dosage of HT for the shortest period of time possible is the current standard of care. Menopausal women (usually between the ages of 50 and 59) have the best benefit-risk ratio when starting HT, but this decreases as women age and reach the point of no return.
There is no need to stop taking HT if a woman experiences early menopause before the normal age of menopause at 51, as long as there is no history of breast cancer risk.

Benefits

Systemic estrogen therapy (estrogen plus progestogen) has been shown to be an effective treatment for a variety of problems, including hot flashes, vaginal dryness and night sweats. These advantages can lead to better sleep, better sex, and better quality of life.
Preventing osteoporosis and alleviating the symptoms of hot flashes, nocturnal sweats, and vaginal dryness are the most common reasons for using HT.

Thus, this was all about benefits and overview on hormone replacement therapy.
