How to attach a wig to your head?
You can attach a hairpiece, toupee or wig in different ways. The most popular and sturdy methods of securing a hairpiece or wig are through tape or glue. If you have enough of your own hair, it is also possible to attach a hair piece with a clip or clamp comb. Our experience is that the choice between hairpiece tape and glue is very dependent on personal preference. In this blog, we will therefore explain the differences between both methods so that you can make an informed decision.
Attach hairpiece, hairpiece or wig with hairpiece tape
It is usually easier to put on and take off a hairpiece with hairpiece tape than with hairpiece glue. Hairwork tape is also suitable for places with both hair and no hair. The adhesive strength of hairpiece or wig tape varies from a few days to a few weeks. You can possibly increase the durability of the adhesive strips by lubricating them with. With this product you apply a film layer between your skin and the tape, which extends the adhesive power.
Daily (or every few days) replaceable tapes are easy to use and replace with some practice. You attach the double-sided tape to the appropriate adhesive edges of the hair, for example a lace wig, and to your scalp. More permanent hair tapes are more difficult to apply and we normally apply these in our hair salon. The most suitable tape for a hairpiece depends on the hairpiece and scalp.
Do you want to fix your hair at home yourself and do you not mind doing this daily? Then you probably opt for daily replaceable hair work tapes. Do you want a more permanent solution that needs to be reattached every few weeks and don’t mind going to a hair salon for this? Then hair work glue or hair work tape with maximum adhesive strength is suitable for you. For both hairpiece tape and glue, the adhesive strength depends on, among other things, use, acidity of the skin, perspiration, material of the hairpiece and weather conditions.
Attach hairpiece or wig with hairpiece glue & wig glue
Gluing a hairpiece with glue is usually more work and more difficult than attaching a hairpiece with hairpiece tape. However, hairpiece or wig glue usually has a greater adhesive power than hairpiece tape. With practice, you can use hair work glue yourself, but we often do this for clients in our salon. Good hair work glue, or if you are finding it difficult to use such wigs then lace front wigs and headband wig are made for you.
What is a lace front wig?
“A lace wig is a wig made on a gauze-like fabric. Lace wigs give the impression that the hair is growing straight from the head. A lace front wig is, as the name implies, a wig with lace from ear to ear. Parted to the highest point of your head or the crown. Here you can tuck the hairs behind your ears, easily move the parting and you can create and braid half up half down hairstyles. ”
Importance of wigs
The first impression we get of someone often depends on the appearance of that person. Hair is and will remain an important part of it. If the hair is not right, or more annoying, if it is completely missing, we quickly find that someone looks bad or unkempt. This can cause major problems for people suffering from baldness; one can develop a negative self-image with all its social consequences. We know that wigs are expensive but you can find cheap wigs too according your choice.
It is also advisable to use a hair mask every now and then to keep the hair soft and ensure a healthy shine. And if necessary, you can put a little serum in the ends. I recommend treating wigs made from real hair as if it were your own hair and how you would treat your own hair. All this is not necessary with synthetic wigs. And you can wash a synthetic wig when it is really necessary. If you are not wearing your wig? Then it is best to put it on a mannequin head or keep it in a satin bag.
